ECB raises loans rates as expected

As expected the ECB raised interest rates by a quarter of a per cent to 2.25 per cent. Jean-Claude Trichet said the rise in the main interest rate was a response to inflationary pressures and would adjust the bank’s “accommodative monetary policy stance”.
